第２７回飯塚国際車いすテニス大会を終えて

「がんばろう日本！そのスマッシュでみんなに勇気を！」を大会スローガンに、５月17日～22日に開催いたしました「第27回飯塚国際車いすテニス大会」は、参加選手91名と少し寂しい大会でしたが、選手たちの魂のこもったプレーとボランティアの力で、それを感じさせない盛り上がりになり、無事に閉幕できました。
皆様のご支援に心より感謝申し上げます。
今年の選手達のプレーは、勇気を出してあきらめなければ誰にでも可能性があるという事を東北に向けて伝えてくれたと確信します。 また海外選手は、日本が元気である事を母国の人達にきっと伝えてくれる事と思います。 さて、来年はロンドンパラリンピックの年となります。海外から世界ランキング上位の選手や、国内も東北の選手を含む多くの選手が、笑顔で飯塚に戻って来てくれる事を信じて心待ちにしております。 今年の大会開催にあたりまして、深いご理解とご協力をいただきました、陸上自衛隊飯塚駐屯地様はじめ、諸官庁、企業、地域の皆様、ボランティアの皆様、本当にありがとうございました。 今後も色々な課題や困難を乗り越えながら、飯塚大会をアジア唯一のスーパーシリーズ大会として維持できるように最大の努力をして参る覚悟です。 どうか皆様方のより一層のご理解とご支援を賜りますよう宜しくお願いを申し上げます。 最後に、東日本大震災で被災された方々が一日も早く落ち着いた生活を取り戻せますようお祈り申し上げ、お礼のご挨拶といたします。 心よりありがとうございました。
The 27th
Iizuka International Wheelchair Tennis Tournament

"Cheer up Japan! Every single smash will bring them the courage!"
Under this slogan, the 27th Iizuka Wheelchair Tennis Tournament was held from May 17th to 22nd. The number of the 91 players from all over Japan and abroad was smaller than that of the usual years, but the players put their heart and soul into the games and the volunteers supported the tournament. They made this tournament finish with a great success. I am truly grateful to their help.
I am sure that the players' great performances would be a strong message of "Courage and Hope" to the people in the northeastern part of Japan.
I also believe that foreign players will tell their people that Japan is fine.
Next year the Paralympics in London will take place.
I believe that high-ranked players from overseas and Japanese players including "Tohoku" will come to Iizuka again with their big smiles.
I really appreciate the cooperation by SDF officials in Iizuka, the local government, many companies, local residents and every volunteer.
I have made up my mind to make every effort to maintain this tournament as the only International Tennis Federation's Super Series in Asia.
I would like to wish for your further understandings and supports.
Finally, I would like to conclude my gratitude by wishing that people who were affected by the earthquake will recover their ordinary lives as soon as possible.
